The GEM Theatre is pleased to welcome back to the GEM stage Hunter Blalock & the Sad Machine. Hunter Blalock is an American songwriter from the hills of North-West Georgia. Hunter never fears uncomfortable subjects while writing songs & presents his real uncensored view of the world & himself.

Hunter’s writing style is something all his own as he blends styles of Country, Folk, & Bluegrass to create a sound that places him in the genre of Americana. His influences range from Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, & American Aquarium to The Band, Townes Van Zant, & Many more.

Hunter started his career as the frontman for southern soul-rock band Whiskey Dixie in 2014. There came a time in late 2018 where Hunter felt pulled in a new direction so strongly it could no longer be prolonged. He along with company of former band-mate Austin Harper & a handful of brand new songs, went solo and started touring the southeast & mid-west as Hunter Blalock & The Sad Machine. During these past few years Hunter has enjoyed seeing the country and sharing stages with some of the scenes most respected artists such as Arlo Mckinley, Town Mountain, Caleb Caudle, & Abe Partridge.

Along with the life that comes with being a songwriter, Hunter is also enjoying creating art in the form of music inspired cartoons under the name “Peach Fuzz Cartoonz”. His art has been featured in many different ways throughout the music industry. Whether it’s a small shout out on social media by bands such as American Aquarium, Justin Wells, & Morgan Wade, on T-shirt designs for acts such as 49 Winchester & Tim Moore, or in Tyler Childers’ most recent music video for his song ‘Country Squire’ via a Town Mountain sticker design. Hunter’s cartoons are turning heads equally as much as his music.
